MAURICEVILLE NOTES

(Own Correspondent.)

Coming of Age Party. On Saturday evening Mr and Mrs F. Tildesley gave a dance at the homestead, "Rantan Hill,” to celebrate the coming of ago of their daughter Mavis. The rooms were beautifully decorated, coloured streamers and balloons radiating from the ceilings. Pink roses, asters and phlox set in crystal vases were in all the room and on the supper tables. The guests all wore paper hats, giving the whole scene a very gay and festive appearance. Mrs Tildesley received her guests,, of which there were over sixty, wearing a frock of green lace with bridge coat to tone. Miss Tildesley wore pink floral net over pink satin. A delightful supper was served and in proposing the toast of the guest of the evening Mr E. W. Cheetham presented Miss Tildesley with a gold key. Miss Tildesley was also the recipient of a great many beautiful birthday presents. Mr H. Myers proposed the toast of the host and hostess which was given musical honours. The singing of Auld Lang Syne brought to a close one of the most enjoyable parties'ever held in the district.

Dairy Co. > At the monthly meeting of directors of the Mauriceville Dairy Co. Mr V. K. Lemberg presided. The pay-out for March supply was fixed at Bd. Owing to ill-health, the chairman was granted three months’ leave of absence, during which time Mr H. Myers, deputy-chair-man, will act in his stead. The supply is being well maintained, due to the good rains since the breaking of the drought, and the decrease to date is only 90 tons for the year. • * • • Football Club. At the annual meeting of the Mauriccville Football Club special thanks 'were passed by the players present to the secretary, Mr J. W. Milner and committee, for the manner in which they had worked in the interests of the club and players last season. Mr Milner was also thanked for his services on the Junior Advisory Board. The balance sheet, which was adopted, showed a credit balance of £3/4/6. # * * * Foresters’ Ball. Great interest is being taken in the Foresters’ Ball to be held in the hall this evening and a large crowd is expected from the surrounding districts. The committee has worked hard to make it a success and visitors can rest assured that it will be in keeping with the reputation already earned by functions held in Mauriceville.
