Table Tennis.

At the annual meeting of the Mauriceville Tennis Club the following officers were elected for the ensuing year: —President, Mr O. G. Cliristophersen; vice-presidents, Miss G. Heckler, Messrs A. W. Campbell, A. Cameron, A. E. Clarke, J. W. Milner and F. W. Sclierf; secretary, Mr A. Myers (reelected); club captain, Mr 11. Myers (re-elected); committee, Mesdames G. Cliristopliersen. and T. Goodgame, Misses M. and A. McGovern and E. Wilkin, and Messrs A. Wilkin (vice-cap-tain), and A. McGovern.

Indications point to a very successful season which will open on Tuesday, 30th April, with a combined Yankee touranament. * » * * Foresters’ Ball. No efforts are being spared by the committee of the Foresters’ Lodge, in connection with their annual ball which is being held in the Mauriceville East Hall on Tuesday evening next. Special work Ims been put into the floor, whilst tho supper and music will be all that could bo desired, and the many patrons which are expected can be assured of a great evening’s enjoyment. * * * • Football.

At a meeting held this week it was decided that, owing to the scarcity of players, a team would not be entered in the competitions this season. » * * • Paddy’s Market.

A great response is being met with in connection with the Paddy’s Market to bo held on 4th May in connection with the Hall Society’s Supper Room fund. The committee will meet again on Tuesday, 23rd April, to finalise matters and it is confidently expected that the results will eclipse any function, yet held. • • * * Personal.

Mr C. Eckhold, who has been clerk at the local railway station for the past three and a half years, has received notice of his transfer, to Napier at the end of the month. His place will be taken by the transfer of Mr R. G. Green, of Napier. • * * * Raid on Poultry.

Ferrets have been playing havoe in local poultry runs during the week. In two instances two birds have been killed off the same roost in a night.
