SAWMILL BLAZE

DESTRUCTION AT TARINGAMOTU. TATJMARUNUI, This Day. A blaze, which was seen for miles around, last night destroyed the Taringamotu Tota.ra Sawmill Company’s mill at Taringamotu, near Taumarunui. The planing mill, breaking down mill, and other buildings were destroyed. The mill was one of the most up-to-date in the district, and the damageruns into thousands of pounds. One hundred men are rendered idle by the fire, which started in the planing shed, about 8 o’clock, and within half anhour had swept from end to end of the mill. The fire-fighting appliances were burnt before they could be removed from tho planing shed. Numerous mill houses and thousands <of feet of stacked timber, which surrounded the mill, were saved by a favourable breeze.—(P.A.)
