BYRD EXPEDITION

ARRIVAL AT DUNEDIN. DUNEDIN, Monday. The Jacob Ruppcrt, with Admiral Byrd and members of his expedition, arrived at Dunedin to-day. A welcome was extended by the Mayor and the chairman of the Harbour Board. All members of the. expedition are in good health. Admiral Byrd, in an interview, said this was his fourth expedition to the polar regions, and in not one had there been any loss of life. He said the main function of the expedition was to ascertain whether there was any connection between Marie Byrd Land and the main Arctic Continent. He was now satisfied that the existence of such a connecting link had been established. -(P.A.)
