STOCK MARKET
MASTERTON SALE. There was a good attendance at the Masterton sale held by the N.Z. Farmers’ Co-operative Distributing Co., Ltd. to-day. Competition for fat wethers and store hoggets was exceptionally keen and prices advanced on recent sales. Fat ewes were easier by about 2/- a head. Cattle met with a good sale and there was a total clearance of a large number of pigs at slightly easier rates.
The offerings comprised 350 sheep, 45 head of cattle and 107 pigs.
Fat Sheep. —Fat woolly wethers, 26/9, 27/6 to 28/-; heavy fat shorn wethers, 24/6; fat ewes, 20/-, 21/-, 22/1, 23/4 to 23/10; heavy fat hoggets, 25/3, 25/6 to 27/6; fat hoggets, 22/to 23/1; fat b.f. 2-ths 22/-. Store Sheep. —Ewe hoggets, 23/7; good wether hoggets. 23/-; med. wether hoggets, 19/3 to 21/3. Cattle. —Fat cows ex. dairy £2/10/-, £3/10/- to £4/15/-; fat P.A. cows, £4 5/- to £5; Jersey steers, £l/15/- to £2 10/-; empty dairy cows, 15/-,- £l, £1 4/- to £l/10/-; yearling Jersey heifers, £1 to £l/10/-; springing heifers, £2 10/-, £3 to £3/10/-; heifers in milk, £2 15/- to £3; cows in milk, £4*; springing cows, £3/10/- to £3/157-. Pigs.—Porkers, 34/- to 40/> store pigs, 24/6, 26/6 to 28/-; slips, 20/-, 22/-, to .23/-; good weaners, 18/- to 20/-; medium weaners, 14/- to 17/-.
