HAWKE’S BAY SHOW
ATTRACTIVE PROGRAMME. Attention is called to the advertisement in this issue notifying the closing dates for entries of the Hawke’s Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s Spring Show, which is to take place on the Society’s beautiful grounds at Tomoana on Wednesday and Thursday, 17th and 18th October.
The committee has endeavoured to make the schedule as attractive as possible, and a number of new classes have been added, including a number of classes for fleece wool, for which a 20guinea cup has been offered. Other trophies include the Romney Marsh North Island championship shields for Romney ram and ewe. ■The schedule is, as in the past, a most comprehensive one, and includes sections for all classes of horses, cattle, sheep, pigs, fat cattle, fat sheep and lambs, poultry, needlework, knitting, etc., hams and bacon, butter, etc., and dogs, a seimratc schedule having been issued for the latter, and fanciers will b(y interested to learn that an Australian judge has been appointed. In anticipation of a record number of entries in the dog section, a large number of cups, trophies and cash prizes arc offered.
It is hardly necessary to remind stock owners that all stud stock is under cover; also that the railway siding into the grounds provides every facility for the handling of stock to and from tho show.
Intending exhibitors who have not already received a copy of the schedule should do so Avithout delay by applying to the secretary (Mr A. M. Retemeyer), P.O. Box 145, Napier, or copies may be obtained from kindred societies.
