RACING

MOONEE VALLEY EVENTS. MELBOURNE, Saturday. The weather was wet for the Moonee Valley races. Results are:— ’ BUDGEEEE HANDICAP. Gothic Gem, 7.6 (Badger) 1 Irish Chieftain, 7.4 (Wilson) 2 Ruach, 9.0 (Barry) 3 Fifteen started. Length and a half; two lengths. Time, 2.8 L In the Moonee Valley Steeplechase, Apache was ninth. In the Moonee Valley Stakes, Queen Helen was seventh, and in the Boomerang Hurdles Cape Fair was fifth.

TURF NOTES. The Carterton Racing Club has decided to allot £6BO in stakes during the coming season. The distance of the Carrington Ilighweight Handicap at the Carterton races has been increased from a mile to a mile and eighty yards. The Maiden Plate (Race No. 7) is to take the place of the Novice Stakes (Race No. 1). It has been decided that, the first race commence at noon.
