' The death of Mr Alexander Lauder, a brother of Sir Harry, reported in a cablegram from Mr Lauder had attended a re-union dinner with another brother, John, who had just arrived from Australia after an absence of fifty-one years. Their Excellencies Lord and Lady Bledisloe paid a visit of inspection to the Government’s veterinary laboratory at Wallaceville yesterday. They were accompanied by Captain J. W. Tweedie, A.D.C., Dr. C. J. Reakes, Di-rector-General of Agriculture, and Mr J. Mcllwaine, District Superintendent of the Agricultural Department, Their Excellencies were met at the laboratory by the officer in charge, Mr C. S. M. Hopkirk, who conducted them through the various departments. Mr Janies Ramsay Gilchrist, a wellknown breeder of • Border Leicester sheep and a highly esteemed resident of North Otago, died suddenly on Wednesday night, an Oamaru Press Association message reports. Mr Gilchrist, who was 68 years of age, was a son of Mr J. C. Gilchrist, the first Mayor of Oamaru, and farmed successfully the Roseberry Estate,ifcjdiich a few years ago was the Crown and subdivided. Mr Gilchrist in his younger days was a fine athlete and had been a generous supporter of sporting and musical organisations and of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association.
