OBITUARY

MR ROBERT BURTON. The friends of Mr Robert Burton Avill hear Avith regret of his death, Avhieh took place yesterday. The late Mr Burton Avas born in Spenithorne, Yorkshire, in 1846, and arrived in Ncav Zealand in 1884. After a brief stay in Wellington he and his family settled in Masterton, Avliere he commenced business as an engineer. Mr Burton Avas a resident of Masterton for forty years. He Avas a prominent member of the Methodist Church, and Avas deeply interested in the Avelfare of youth. For many years he Avas superintendent of the Sunday School at Kuripuni. He is survived by three daughters and two sons, to Avhom sympathy Avill be extended in their bereavement. The daughters are the Misses M. and E. J. Burton, of 219 Chapel Street, Masterton, and Mrs W. R. Tuck, of Auckland. The sons are the Rev. J. W. Burton, M.A., of Sydney, and Mr A. Burton, of St. Helier’s, Auckland. The interment Avill be pri-A-ate.
