At Eastbourne, in the tennis singles semi-finals, Crawford defeated Quist, 7/5, 6/4, 3/6, 6/2, and Perry defeated Kirby, 7/5, 6/1, 6/3. WOMEN’S SINGLES.

Fourth Round. —Miss Round defeated Miss Whittingstall, 3/6, 6/4, 6/3; Miss Stammers defeated Miss Dearman, 7/9, 7/5, 6/2. MEN’S DOUBLES.

Third Round. —Perry and Lee defeated Kirby and Mild, 6/2, 6/4, 2/6, 4/6, 6/3; Boussus and Merlin defeated Nishimura and Yamagishi, /5, 6/4, 6/2. WOMEN’S DOUBLES. *

Third Round. —Mrs Ilopman and Miss Hardwick beat Miss Crichton and Miss Hobson, 6/4, 0/6, 6/3. MIXED DOUBLES.

Second Round.—Sharpe and Miss Dearman defeated Hopman and Mrs Hopman, 8/6, 3/6, 6/3. Stedman and Miss Me Alpine defeated Kirby and Miss Heeley, 2/6, 7/5, 6/3. Malfroy and Miss Stammers defeated Peters and Mrs Peters, 8/6, 6/3.

CRAWFORD AND McGRATH WIN,

In the tennis doubles, third round, Crawford and McGrath defeated Malfroy and Prenn, 9/7, 6/4, 11/9. In the mixed doubles, third round, Wheatcroft and Mrs Wheatcroft defeated Stedman and Miss McAlpine, 3/6, 7/5, 8/6. •

DAVIS CUP. THE FRENCH TEAM. (Received Saturday, 11.10 a.m.) PARIS, Friday. France’s Davis Cup team to play against Australia on 18th May comprises Borotrn, Boussus, Brugnon, and Merlin. It is expected that Boussus and Merlin will play in the singles, and Borotra and Brugnon in the doubles.
