FISHERMAN’S STRIKE
TROUBLE AT THE CHATHAMS. CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. A strike among fishermen fishing for the traAvler South Sea, at the Chatham Islands, is reported as the result of the men seeking an increase in the price of fish from $d a pound to Id. It is, alleged, according to reports by the steamer Tees, that four ucav fisher* men Avho began Avork for the trawler •were prevented from fishing by the strikers, whp threw their catch overboard, and that the men in the South Sea had to seek protection from the constable at Waitangi.— (P.A.)
