W.C.T.U.

MONTHLY MEETING-. There was a good attendance of members at. the monthly meeting of the W.C.T.U., held in Knox Hall. The president (Miss Jones) was in the chair. Mrs Jansen led the devotional exercises. One new member was initiated. A letter was received from Miss Mc--Lay, organiser for the Y Branch of the Union, expressing regret that she was unable to be present on account of illness. Reports of the District Convention were read. The thanks of the Unioji are due to Mrs Keane and Mrs M ood, of Wellington, for same. It was decided to hold an “at home” meeting in Knox primary room on Thursday, 19th April, to receive! the report. of the Jubilee Convention, which will be held in Wellington during March. In regard to the Grand National Fair, gifts of any saleable goods would be appreciated and can be left at Mr Daysh’s shop, Queen Street, before 13th March.

Mrs Cocker, on behalf of the Union, presented Mrs W. White with a bouquet and wished her an enjoyable holiday and safe return. Mrs Richardson was also presented with a bouquet, and regret was expressed at her departure from the district. * The hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs Morice and Mrs McGregor.
