BAYONNE SWINDLE

A REPORT SUPPRESSED DELAY IN STAVISKY TRIAL. Press Association Electric Telegraph—Copyright PARIS, Wednesday. The Stavisky Commission ascertained that the police were aware of the details of the Bayonne swindle before the Credit Municipal was launched. An inspector submitted a report in 1931, action on which would have precluded later developments. M. Pressard, head of the Seine Prosecutor’s office, and a brother-in-law of M. Chautcmps, was held responsible for delays and negligence regarding 19 postponements of the Stavisky trial, and deprived of his recent Judgeship. He will not bo appointed until he answers the nccesary questions. M. Pressard has been deprived of a position practically equivalent to a Lord Justice of Appeal in England. It is expected that..lie will now be exiled to an administrative post in the colonies.
