A. AND P. ASSOCIATION

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. Departing from the usual practice, the executive committee of the Masterton A. and P. Association met last night. Mr H. McKay presided over a good attendance of members. Advice was received from Mr R. L. Bennett, New Zealand representative of Messrs Henry S. Fitter and Sons, Ltd., that he had not heard from his principals with regard to the suggestion made by the association in respect to the matter of a prize of'£l being given for the best individual lamb in the class other than the winning pen. Mr P. Borthwiek suggested that the class referred to be made one for lambs of 361bs. and under. It was eventually decided to leave the decision to Messrs Fitter and Sons’ representative. A communication was received from the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board, stating that the Board’s challenge shield in connection with the district competition in export lambs recently arrived from Sheffield, and that instructions had been given for th§ North Island shield to be forwarded to the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association, as representing the winning .district for 1932. The letter also stated that it had been suggested that when the Manawatu body had held the shield, say, for three months, it should be forwarded to the Masterton A. and P. Association as representing the winning district for 1933. The letter Avas received and the hope expressed that the Association would hold the shield for some time. The report of the Ground Committee was adopted. Several changes in the sheep and cattle classes were recommended by a schedule revision committee’s report, which was adopted. Mr McLaren reported that Air Shaw was to donate the bullock, and Mr Cavcrhill the sheep, for the weight guessing competition.
