GERMAN SPIES

LA BELLE SOPHIE CASE. TWELVE ARRESTS. PARIS, Friday. There have been twelve arrests thus far in Metz in the La Belle Sophie case. The authorities believe the activities of the German gang covered the whole of the French Eastern frontier zone. On 11th October was reported the arrest at Metz of a beautiful German blonde known as La Belle Sophie, who induced a soldier to smuggle one of the latest machine-guns out of barracks. She was arrested at the frontier with the dismantled gun in her luggage.
