CRICKET
WAIRARAPA ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Cricket Association was held last evening, Mr A. Rippon presiding. It was decided to start competition matches on 21st October. The secretary’s action in applying to the Masterton Borough Council for the use of the Park Oval was endorsed. The matter of practice wickets was left to the Management Committee to approach the Park Committee of the Borough Council. It was stated that two teams from the Hutt Club would visit Masterton on Labour Day, and arrangements for the match were left to the Management Committee. It was decided that a ten-minute interval be observed in all senior cricket matches. A recommendation was made to the Management Committee to go into the matter of appointing umpires, the suggestion being made by Mr Rippon that every club find an umpire, and that these umpires be allotted games by the committee. Mr Massey brought up the possibility of sending a senior representative team to the Nelson district at Christmas, and appealed to the meeting tor support to any scheme to raise the necessary finance for the proposed trip. . „ It was decided that nomniaaons ot teams close on 10th Octobei.
