SHOPS GUTTED
OPOTIKI FIRE. MYSTERIOUS ORIGIN. OPOTIKI, Monday. At 4 a.m. to-day three shops were gutted by fire and the contents destroyed. One shop adjoining was damaged and its contents ruined. The fire occurred in the centre of the town. The origin of the fire is unknown. The occupiers were Mrs Patterson, Auld and Co., G. Dawson and a Chinaman. The owner is W. Oakes. —(P.A.)
