COSY THEATRE, “LET ME EXPLAIN DEAR.” Gene Gerrard has merry work to do and does it well in “Let Me Explain Dear,” which heads the programme to be presented finally to-night at the Cosy. His efforts to get back the bauble, really the property of a Rajah who has lent it to a “vamp,” give rise to many amusing complications. The supporting players include the inimitable Claude Hulbert. In this film Roland Young plays the part of a Guards officer whose hobby is the difficult art of remaining a bachelor. Ever ready to act as best man at all his friends’ weddings, he is remarkably astute at avoiding being led to the altar himself. When his strong-willed grandmother, played by Kate Cutler, decrees that he is to marry within'a year and hands him a list of “possibles,” the situation develops into one of spontaneous gaiety. Playing with Roland Young in “Wedding Rehearsal” are John Loder, George Grossmith and Lady Tree. Reserves at Perry’s; ’phone 2496.

“A NIGHT IN CAIRO.”

Ramon Novarro is cast as an Egyptian guide in “A Night in Cairo,” which commences to-morrow afternoon at the Regent Theatre, and then screens for three nights. Novarro’s interest in ladies on tour increases in proportion to the size of their pocket books, and “A Night in Cairo” combines thrilling episodes and a colourful romance, with a generous peppering of fresh, ingratiating humour. The story is the engrossing narrative of a beautiful young woman wno visits the Nile country in the company of her somewhat stupid English fiance. Supporting Novarro are Myrna Loy and Reginald Denny. The excellent selected supporting featurettes include a Laurel and Hardy comedy, “Me and My Pal,” the inimitable Pete Smith describing wrestlers and their holds, and two interesting Gazettes.
