“NEWS OF THE WORLD” TITLE. ALLISS BEATS SEYMOUR. : LONDON, Sunday. In the “News of the World” golf competition, Alliss beat Seymour, 5 and 4, and thus becomes the unofficial match play champion. Alliss, thanks to winning three holes in a row of the first nine, was one up at the eighteenth, taking 71 against 74. Seymour went into the lead at the twenty-second, but lost the next three as a result of weakness with his woods, ►with which Alliss is generally superior.A UNIQUE FEAT. (Received Monday, 8.40 a.m.) LONDON, Sunday. A feat unique in championship golf was performed by Eric Biddian when playing Jack McLean in the final of the* Irish open championship at Newcastle (County Down). He twice holed out in one. In the first round he holed the tee shot at the seventh, 128 yards, and again holed the tee shot at the fourteenth, 208 yards. Nevertheless, McLean retained the title, 3/2.

MARLBOROUGH CHAMPIONSHIPS. BLENHEIM, This Day. In the Marlborough provincial golf championships, W. N. Masefield set a new course record of seventy. In the semi-finals are E. Reid (Blenheim), J. In a match played at Bideford during the week-end, a team representing the Masterton Golf Club was defeated by the Bideford Club by 16 games to 7.
