A DAM BURSTS
FLOOD THREATENED. ‘ (Received Tuesday, 8.45 a.m.) CALCUTTA, Monday. The famous Shyok ice dam ,in thp Karakoram Range of the Himalayas is reported to have burst, and a tremendous volume of water is coming down the. Indus, and threatens to inundate the Punjab and Kashmir. This dam holds back an artificial lake formed 17,000 feet up the Karakoram Range,'which, on the occasion of a previous bursting, caused flood water 50 feet high at Attoek bridge, 600 miles from the dam.
