ATTEMPTED SUTTEE
BY GIRL WIDOW. (Received Tuesday, 9.55 a.m.) CALCUTTA, Monday. Overcome with grief at the death of her husband, aged 24, a girl, aged 16, at Diamond Harbour, Calcutta, attempted to commit suttee, throwing herself on the blazing funeral pyre and clinging to the burning body. The mourners rescued her senseless, but extensively burned.
