S. WAIRARAPA HOSPITAL

♦ PROPOSED CLOSING. TROTTING CLUB’S PROTEST. ’ * CARTERTON, This Day. The stewards of the Wairarapa Trotting Club last night expressed strong disapproval of the proposed action of the Wairarapa Hospital Board in closSng the South Wairarapa Hospital, •which the club looks upon as its own offspring. The Trotting Club was first funded with the object of providing for the hospital, and over a period of many years contributed thousands of pounds towards its upkeep. The following resolutions were passed unanimously, the first to be sent to the Minister and the second to the Hospital Board: — /“That a protest be sent to the Minister of Public Health against the decision of the Wairarapa Hospital Board to close the South Wairarapa Hospital, and that he be asked to -veto such a proposal. This Club was first founded for the purpose of assisting the South Wairarapa. Hospital, and for many years the Hospital received very tangible annual results from the Club’s efforts.” “That-this meeting of the Wairayapa Trotting Club respectfully requests the Wairarapa Hospital Board to reconsider its decision to close the South Wairarapa Hospital, in view of the fact that this Club was first founded for the purpose of assisting the Hospital from its profits, and over a period of years paid a very substantial amount into the hospital funds.” —(P.A.)
