WALKER DEFEATS CLARK. AUCKLAND, Monday. George Walker and Jack Clark met in a return wrestling match to-night. Walker won by tAVO falls to one. Clark secured the first fall in the second round, pinning his opponent after lifting him and slamming him hard to the mat. 'Walker evened in the third round with a fall gained by a reverse Avristlock and head scissors. The contest ended in the fourth round, Walker obtaining an easy fall after making his opponent groggy Avith a series of side deadlock throAvs. Clark aaxis labouring under a severe handicap. He had been treated by doctors this afternoon for blood poisoning in the main finger of'the left hand, an urgent operation being imperatiA’o. Clark entered the ring AVit-h the finger heavily bandaged and deadened against pain. The hand Avas SAvollen, and he could make little use of it. —(P.A.) WIN FOR VARGA. WELLINGTON, Monday. A dying tackle that missed spelt defeat for the Portuguese Avrestler, A 1 Pereira, 15.10, when lie met Count Joseph Varga (Hungary), 15.0, before a full house in the Town Hall this evening. Early in the sixth round, Pereira charged Avith his head down, and Varga stepped aside like a toreador. Pereira passed betAveen the tAvo top ropes at a corner, hardly making the .strands quiver, and landed head first on the door, among the front toav seats. He Avas unable to enter the ring Avithin the stipulated time, and Varga Ava s declared the Avinner. Varga had a fall to his credit in the third round, and Pereira had evened it in the fifth Avith a press.—(P.A.)
