RADIO COMPETITION
GREATEST NUMBER OF CONTACTS. WITH OVERSEAS STATIONS. (Received Tuesday, 5.50 a.m.) LONDON, Monday. The Radio Society of Great Britain held a national field day, when thirtyseven amateurs, scattered throughout the United Kingdom, with portable wireless sets, participated in -a competition to see who could make the greatest number of contacts with overseas amateurs. Extra points are being allotted for Empire contacts, especially in regard to Australia and New Zealand. The day was successful. One amateur, with a portable station, made contact with forty overseas -stations. Preliminary retuAs fail to show contacts with Australia, but two Dunedin stations, and -also another New Zealand station, were heard admirably.
