LONDON SALES, IMPROVED COMPETITION. LONDON, Friday. Offerings at the wool sales to-day were 8931 bales, including 5719 bales of New Zealand, and 6539 bales were sold. Competition was sustained, _ and the business was well distributed. Prices continued firm. There were some withdrawals, owing to high limits placed on the wool. New Zealand sales included greasy Merinos, Kaiwarra and Muri, highest- l'Od, average 8 7-Sdi; greasy crossbred, Tipua, highest Bld, average Od.
