TEMPERANCE UNION

MEETING IN MASTERTON. * The first meeting for 1933 of the Young People’s Christian Temperance Union was held in the Methodist Hall on Tuesday evening last. Miss M. Simpson presided over a fair attendance of officers and members. 1 :- It was decided that-the. second birthday should be celebrated on Saturday; 25th March, when a- monster social, is to be held, and the evening will re--semble the time when temperance wasfirst witnessed by seven male members dressing up in 1832 fa-shions, and the? lady members to dress up in olden-time costumes. I It was decided to invite the W.C.T.U. and Carterton Band of Hope and senior officers of the L.TIL. One new member was received on trail,sfer from the L.T.L. to the ‘ I Y ” Branch. At the end of the business, Miss E. Jones presented the president (Miss M. Simpson) with a bouquet of flowers -as a mark of good wishes for her in the year’s work.
