LADY BAILEY’S FLIGHT RESCUE BY ARMY AIRMEN. She apparently drifted eastward thirty miles for every hundred of headway. She had the option of returning to find a, landmark or continue in the hope of reaching the Niger before her petrol was exhausted.

A representative of the “Midi” interviewed one of Lady Bailey’s rescuers, who said: “She was very pale, being worn out by the effort of flying when not too well. She was only'able to crawl out of the cockpit with great difficulty. !She had eaten practically nothing since she landed and was very fevereish but smiled and waved her hand when she saw us.’’ SEARCH FOR HINKLER, CAPTAIN HOPE SAFE. (Received Saturday*, 9.50 a.m.) LAUSANNE, Friday. Captain Hope and his companion Heanly were found landed near a village in the Simplon Valley yesterday. They since have continued their search for Hinkler on foot. SEARCH HAMPERED. (Received Saturday, 10.20 a.m.) LAUSANNE, Friday. After landing Captain Hope and Heanly proceeded cn foot- in the direction of the Diablerets, where they believed they saw traces of Hinkler. A later message stays Captain Hope has abandoned the search for Hinkler, owing to adverse weather.
