RINKS CHAMPIONSHIP.

WELLINGTON, Wednesday.

Post-section play in the New Zealand champion rinks competition commenced to-day on a two-life system, in bright and breezy weather. A gusty wind troubled players at times. - The following are the results of the three rounds played:— FIRST RODND. Wilson 16; Walker 29, Trayes 23. The final of the pairs championship was won to-day by DEL S. Mashen and M. W. 'Squire (Hawera), who defeated last year’s winners, Bremner and Ilardley (West End, Auckland), 20/15. In the semi-finals, Hardley 'beat Franks (Featherston) and Squire beat Gordon (Seatoun). —(P.A.)

MTJTRIE CUP. NOTES BY "THE BOWLER.” A challenge match between F. Davey and Perry (s), of, the Masterton Club, the holders, and Evans and W, Gibson (s), of the Park Club, the challengers, resulted in a win for the challengers by 3 points. On the seventh head the scores were: Park 8, Masterton 3. Masterton scored '3 on the next head, but at the 10th head the Park were leading by 8 points. In the next seven heads, Park increased their score by 4 points, while Masterton inereased theirs by 8 points, the ■board on the 17th head being: Park 18, Masterton 14.

On the 19th head Park were leading by 6 points, but on the 20th head Masterton put on 4 points, leaving them with 21 points to win on the last head.

Park,, however, secured a single, and the final scores were: Park 21, Masterton 18.

The game was an interesting and enjoyablo one, many fine heads being played, P -

I was pleased to see such a large number of -bowlers present. The Park bowlers appreciated the fine bowling qualities of the green.
