WEDDING

GRAHAM—BUTTER. A wedding of wide interest, especially amongst Methodists of the Wairarapa, was celebrated at the Masterton Methodist Church yesterday when Miss Winifred Joyce Butter, only daughter of Mr F. G. Butter, of Tararua Street, Lansdowne, was married to Mr George Walter Graham, of Riverside, Ashburton, youngest son of Mr A. Graham and the late Mrs Graham of blew Plymouth. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. E. O. Blamires, assisted by the Rev. W. Parker, of the Kuripuni Methodist Church. Miss Jones presided at the organ and a solo was rendered by Miss Evelyn. Jones. The bride, -who was given away by her father, was attended by Miss Ella Bate and Miss Jessie Graham, a sister of the bridegroom, as bridesmaids. The bride was charmingly attired in an ankle length frock of soft white silk. A beautiful veil, the gift of the chief bridesmaid, was attached to a tulle cap with a bandeau_of tiny or-ange-blossom, and the bridal bouquet was an arm-shower of Madonna lilies and white carnations. The bridesmaids were dressed in long frocks' of powder blue and pale lemon respectively, with hats and shoes to match, and carried shower bouquets of blue hydrangeas and lemon carnations.

Mr Allan G. Butter, brother of the bride, was best man, while Mr A. E. Bate acted as groomsman.

Mr Gordon Bate and Mr Arthur Fieldhouse assisted at the church as ushers, and the solo “Thanks be to God ’ r was sung by Miss E. Jones while the register was being signed. As the party left the church four little girls with pretty flower baskets showered rose petals over the path. After the cliureh ceremony the large number of guests were entertained to a delightful wedding repast in the church schoolroom. The drawing-room arrangement was a distinct' and pleasing feature of the function which was of an informal nature. Mr and Mrs Butter received their guests at the entrance, the bride’s mother wearing a wine-red ensemble, with black hat, and carrying a. posy of deep-red carnations and gypsophila. Mr Blamires, in a happy speech. congratulated the young couple and also took the onnortunity to pay a well-merited tribute fn the bride’s parents, Mr and Mrs E. G. Butter. Much appreciated vocal, elocutionary and pianoforte items were given by Misses Evelyn Jones. Miss Ella Bate' and Mr Arthur Fieldhouse. Many congratulatory telegrams were received from friends in various parts of the Dominion.

Eater a number of the guests followed the bridal party to the parents’ residence at. Tararua Street, where photographs were taken and a further pleasant time spent. Mr and Mrs Graham then left by car for the south, en route to their home at Riverside, Ashburton, the bride wearing a travelling frock of delnhinium blue maroeain, with hat and c'oat to match.
