JAPANESE ACTIVITIES. BRITISH MUCH CONCERNED. LONDON, Tuesday. During a visit to Manchester, Mr Stanley Bruce, Australian Minister in London, found cotton manufacturers extremely despondent at the extent of Japanese competition, and Japan’s ability heavily to undersell competitors despite tariffs. They were also apprehensive of losing their grip on the Australian cotton trade to Japan. Visiting Bradford, Mr Bruce found that the woollen manufacturers were also concerned fearing that Japan’s recent heavy purchases of Australian wool •might lead when military requirements had been fulfilled fo the exploitation of the Commonwealth market at the expense of British and Australian interests 1 .
