WAINGAWA POSITION

FREE LABOUR ENGAGED

Anticipating a start with killing operations at their Waingawa works this afternoon, Messrs Thus. Bort-hwick and Sons, Ltd., made a call for free labour, and a number of men have been engaged under the now terms. A certain amount of picketing is being carried out, -and Union men were posted on the roiad leading to the Waingawa works this morning. However, it is understood that the picketing will bo entirely peaceful, and that there is no intention to interfere with non-union nie-n accepting engagement as slaughtermen, but Union members approaching the* works will be urged not. to accept work.

OPERATIONS COMMENCED,

At the -time' of going to press this afternoon killing operations were under way urt Waingawa. The work is being'done by the free labour engaged and some members of the staff. Bo far there is little stock on hand and a start was made with a few lambs.
