“A RUNAWAY GIRL”

The story of this musical comedy provides many humorous scenes. Act I. is in ’Corsicaj Adt 11. in Ajaloeio, and Act. 111. is in Venice. The band of musicians wluo- entice Winifred away from her secluded life in a convent are a hilarious troupe and play an important part, and while they appear in villainous moods ait times, are really 'not a bad set of men, and -have their code of honour in an Italian way.

“Flipper” (Mr Skitter), who becomes a courier and effects the escape of Winifred and her partner, “Guy” (Mr S. Gilding) to Venice, gives rise to a. lot of indignation to the troupe of musicians, who lose their singing girl.” Nicely woven together in music and story, the musical comedy swings along i.n a charming way. Important in the production of musical comedy is the flocking and general dressing of the chorus, principals and ballet. The wardrobe committee of the Masterton Amateurs always see that this side of the production is properly carried out-. Special attention lias been given this year to the dressing of “A Runaway Girl,” and, together with excellent. scenery for the- three acts, the whole will prove spectacular and pretty. A strong cast of principals, a good chorus and ballet, supported bv the best possible- orchestra, the performance of “A Runaway Girl” must appeal to all who love a real play acted and produced entirelv by Masterton people.

The box pltin for the season opens tomorrow morning ait the Arts and Crafts. Popular ]>rices, 3s, 2s and Is (no tax).
