LONDON SALES. MARKET HARDENING. LONDON, Friday. At the wool sales 8438 bales were offered, including 1910 New Zealand. About 4950 bales were sold. Sustained Homo and Continental competition was experienced, and prices further hardened. As compared with June closing rates, Merinos are now 10 to 15 per cent higher; greasy crossbreds, fine, are 10 to 15 per cent, and medium to coarse are 25 to 30 per cent higher; slipes are 15 to 20 per cent up. Realisations of New Zealand greasy crossbred, “Puha,” 93d highest and 7| d average. Scoured half bred pieces, 11 Round Top,” highest 151 d and average 143 d.
