Weyland, of Masterton and Palmerston North, to Mr Robert Algar Buick, only son of Mr and Mrs R. Buick, of Masterton. » . The death occurred at her residence, Kent Street, Carterton, last night of Mrs Margaret Anne Harvey, widow of the late Mr Thomas Harvey, of Carterton. The late Airs Harvey, who was 75 years of age, had been in failing health for some time past and on Tuesday last she had the misfortune to fall and fracture a thigh. A family of four sons and three daughters are left to mourn their loss. The funeral will take place to-morrow, leaving the residence at 1.30 p.m. for the Clareville Cemetery.

Miss Beta Reynolds, daughter of Mr and Airs F. Al. Reynolds, of “BiVfhbrae,” East Taratahi, has been the guest of honour at quite a number of young people’s parties lately on the occasion of her approaching marriage. Delightful gatherings have taken place at the residences of Airs A. Anderson, West Taratahi, Airs L. R. H. Aplin, Tyne Street, Airs C. Fairbrother, Dalefield, and Airs Geo. Allen, Taratahi. Jn addition to these, Aliss Reynolds “was the guest of honour of the Carterton Horticultural Society Committee, the pretty home of Airs N. Hornsby, Belvedere Street, being lent for the occasion.

There was a fairly large attendance of mourners at the funeral of the late Airs W. J. Gibson, which took place in Alasterton yesterday afternoon. The • officiating minister w T as the Rev. - 3Min Davie, who conducted services at the house and at the cemetery. The profusion of beautiful wreaths received bore witness to the high respect in which the late Airs Gibson was held. The pall-bearers were Alessrs. W. Stewart, F. O’Connor (representing the Park Bowling Club), J. Ataxwell (Alasterton Bowling Club), -T. Walker, J. Henderson (Wairarapa Caledonian Society) and W. White. Air and Airs J. W. Tomlin and family were entertained by their many friends in the Mangamahoe school room on Wednesday evening, at a farewell social. The Alisses Hecklers assisted by a strong committee of willing workers arranged everything necessary for the occasion in a very creditable manner. The members of the Savage Club Glee Party arrived in force and made the building ring with merriment song. Aliss L. Johnston also ably assisted with the singing. Air Vaughan was at the piano. After partaking of a dainty supper Air J. 11. Berney mentioned Air Tomlin’s good qualities as a resident and presented him with a travelling rug and Airs Tomlin with a case of silver afternoon' teaspoons. Air E. .T. Bull presented Miss B. Tomlin with a ladies’ companion on beha’f of the congregation of the local Anglican Church of which Aliss Tomlin had been organist and leader of the singing for some years. A verv nleasant evening broke un after midnight with the singing of “For Thev are Jolly Good Fellows” and “Auld Lang Syne.”
