VEGETABLE CULTURE ADDRESS. Under tlie auspices of the Wairarapa Small Holdings Association, Mr A'. Kemp gave an interesting address last night to a fairly good attendance of the public. The lecture, however, was arranged especially lor the benefit of unemployed relief workers, but only about six were present. Mr \Y. Candy presided. Mr Kemp, pointing out the advantages of fresh vegetables, dealt with the best means of preparing the ground, paying particular attention to drainage, types of soil, and trenching. Referring to suitable vegetables for planting at the present time, Mr Kemp strongly recommended the growing of spinach beet. Manuring was essential, and the land should be given a rest after five years if possible. After answering a lumber of questions, Mr Kemp was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for his address.
