CAMPBELL’S ACCUSATIONS. DENIED BY POLICE. (Received Wednesday, 9.50 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. Both the Commissioner of Police, Mr Childs, and the Police Officers’ Association have replied to Colonel Eric Campbell’s statement, denying his remarks.

(A previous cable stated: In a speech at Manly, which was broadcast, Colonel Eric Campbell denied Police Commissioner Child’s statements, in his recent report to the Government, and reiterated his allegations against the Police Department. Ho said: “It makes me boil with indignation when I think that a gentleman in Commissioner Child’s position has to have recourse to such allegations to try to get away from straight-out facts. My statement that the sergeant of police was promoted for his activities in connection with the Lane Cove case has been denied.” Colonel Campbell then told how a Sergeant Clark called at the “New Guard” headquarters and showed Campbell a crown on his arm saying: “It’s an ill wind that blows nobody any good,” and, pointing to the crown, said: “I got that out of youi prosecution.”)
