REPUBLICANS ON PARADE AN AMAZING- SCENE. Press Association Electric Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, Monday. It is reported by the Dublin correspondent of tlie “Daily Mail” that four battalions of the Irish Republican Army, headed by pipers and carrying standards, which had been hidden for months, marched to College Green and were received with greater cheers accompanied by shouts of “lp the 1.R.A.” then the political prisoners who were released last week. An amazing scene was witnessed as the battalions performed military evolutions, delighting tlie crowds, and proving that they had undergone many hours’ secret drilling.
The police, whose duty until last week would have been to arrest the marchers, had now been ordered .to assist the demonstration, controlling the crowd and regulating the traffic. Another proscribed society which reappeared was the Cumann Na. Ban, or Women’s Republican organisation, consisting of several neatly uniformed girls, whom the police gallantly helped through the crowd.
