A HELPING HAND
ioe. those in need. CLOTHES DRIVE ORGANISED. The Masterton Rotary Club with the assistance of the Boy Scouts, is to hold out a helping hand to those in distress, and seeks the co-operation ot the citizens of Masterton for a clothes drive which is to take place to-moriow week (19th March). In a short time now the. chilly days will be heie, bringing with them misery for those who are unemployed. Relief work is an out-of-doors job which needs littie clothing in the warm sunny days, but, in the icy-cold sunless days’ of winter warm clothing and stout boots are a necessity. Men who have been unemployed for long periods, and even short periods, cannot afford to buy these out of their scanty earnings. The members of the Rotary Club are confident that their appeal will be given whole hearted support. Every variety of wearing apparel anu boots, particular ly men’s boots, and trousers-, will be appreciated. The job lias been made simple for citizens. All one is required to- do is to look over the wardrobe and collect together all articles of clothing and boots not- required; tie them up in a bundle and place them near the front gate by 10 a.m. on Saturday, 19th March. The bundles will be collected by the members of the Rotary Club and Boy Scouts, who wil be divided into parties and each party allotted a particular area to cover. The sorting will be done at a central depot by the members of the Masterton Unemployed Men's Self-Help Club. This organisation will also he responsible for the distribution of the clothes and boots.
