petitors, including several New Zealand champions, from Wellington, Hawke’s Bay, Alaiiawatu and Canterbury districts will be competing and some splendidly contested events should be witnessed. ANNUAL MEETING.

At the annual meeting of the Ahiaru-he-Ponatahi Sports Club held this week at Carterton, Mr. V . M. Jury( president) was in the chair. The chairman congratulated the club on the excellent result of the j eai s operations, which showed a profit of £42 of which £2l had been distributed to "tlie Carterton Fire Brigade, and the

Ahiaruhe and Ponatahi schools each icccived £lO 10s. The balance sheet was adopted without discussion. It was decided to hold the usual meeting on February 20th. on the Carterton Showgrounds, and to eliminate the night meeting. The meeting is to be run for the benefit of the dub, which will distribute any profit (if made) to such objects as the dub in general meeting may decide. The same programme as last year was adopted. The entrance fees for horse events were fixed at 25., and all prizes at £1 10s., 10s., and ss. The children’s events prize money was left the same as last year. The additional events, such as sheaf-tossing,"putting the shot, etc., are to he the same ns last year. The Fire Brigade events were left in the hands of Superintendent Alatson and the Secretary, Air. Smith, to arrange as to prize money and events. A meeting of the committee to make final arrangements will be held next Monday evening.
