POSSIBLE SOLUTION HELD UP BY WAR LORDS. Press Association Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received Wednesday, 8.30 a.m.) SHANGHEI, Tuesday. After several momentous conferences between Chinese bankers and the leaders of the Nanking Government, regarding the near bankruptcy of the country, a possible moratorium and domestic loans, it appears that the difficulties have been temporarily overcome with the announcement that the bankers are prepared to loan £1,000,000 monthly, providing the bankers’ representatives are permitted to participate in the distribution of the amount.
The Government, however, is still unable to function properly owing to the continued absence of Chiang Kai Shek, Wang Chiug Wei and Hu Ha Min. despite frantic efforts to persuade them to return to the capital. A decision regarding the proposed severance of diplomatic relations with Japan is awaiting the sanction of the absent leaders. Thus Manchuria has subordinated the 'present financial crisis.
