BOWLING

DOMINION TOURNEY. SECTION PLAY. CHRISTCHURCH, Tuesday. Section play in the rinks contest of the New Zealand Bowling Association’s tournament was concluded to-day, when the seventh and eighth rounds were played in perfect weather. Twenty-four rinks qualified for post section play, which will be commenced to-morrow and continued on Thursday and Friday. Each rink will play three games per day, each of 21 heads of three hours until automatically eliminated by suffering two losses. There was an unfortunate incident on the Edgeware green this morning, when Atkinson (United) fainted. He was attended to by Dr. Noble Adams, who was also playing on this green and who advised his removal to his home. W. Ashby, of the Edgeware Club, acted as substitute jluring the morning round, and in the afternoon A. Rogers took his place in the United rink. The following rinks, by virtue either of winning their sections or by winning six or more of their eight matches, will proceed to post sectional play, the names of the skips only being mentioned: —Skoglund, Burgess, Bremner, Wilson, Dick, Ives, Dearc, Moyes, Armstrong, Bandy, Ramsay, Hodge, Walker, Laurenson, Gray, Calder, Foster, Murrav, Sprosen, Hutchison, Goodwin, Gordon, Forster, Edwards. — (P.A.).

PARK CLUB TOURNEY. ON ANNIVERSARY DAY. Entries have been received from all Wairarapa clubs for the Park Bowling Club’s tournament on Anniversary Day, which promises to be very successful.

The weather is the only matter not definitely fixed, but optimism was ever a bowler’s virtue, and the best is expected. The Park will be a very attractive place on Friday, when visitors are expected to arrive in large numbers.

Six games of ten heads will be played, commencing at 9 a.in.
