A SPRINGBOK’S VIEWS.

LONDON, Tuesday

“ Get back to more solid scrummaging,” was the advice offered to British Rugby by the Springboks’ manager, Air. Pienaar, at the conclusion of the tour. The Springboks’ triumphant progress was due chiefly, he said, to their magnificent forwards. Mr. Pienaar was of opinion that there would be a general improvement in back play if referees were more strict in curbing the wing forward.

To put itself on side as far as the outside Rugby world is concerned, New Zealand should agree not to play a wing-forward, and to adopt the 62—6 scrum formation. This is the considered opinion of the management committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union, according to a statement made at Wellington yesterday by Air S. S. Dean, president and chairman. Affiliated unions, he said, had been circularised accordingly, and a full discussion was expected to take place at the annual meetin April.
