COLLISION IN FOG
WARSHIP RAMMED. new York, Saturday. Much excitement and worry followed on* a report that a heavy coal freighter in a dense fog off Long Island, had rammed the coastguard destroyer Herndon, with a c-rew .of ninety-five, q-fie Herndon is a highly-prized vesse of the anti-rum forces. i The Herndon, with her port plates split, was lost in the fog for a lengthy period. Finally the freighter took her in tow, but the line broke and the destroyer was lost again for over an hour. Eventually, however, the Herndon was found' and is now presumably being towed into port. As far as is known, no one was lost or killed.
