HINDU'S HOARD
TAKING AWAY GOLD. WELLINGTON, Friday. Shortly before the Maunganui left Wellington to-day for Sydney, Customs officials detained a Hindu passenger who was found to be in possession of a sum of money, believed to be about £IOO. Begulations provide that a maximum sum of £5 in gold currency may be exported from New Zealand, with the permission of the Collector of Customs. For any larger sum, the permission of the Minister of Finance must be obtained. The Hindu was permitted to leave by the Maunganui, but the gold Avas detained by the Customs authorities. — (P.A.)
