RANGITIKEI SEAT
NEW ELECTION DEMANDED. 0} WANGANUI, Friday. Mr. J. T. Ilogan, who lost the Rangitikei seat to Mr. Alec. Stuart, Marton, at the recent election, has lodged a formal objection and demand for a new election, at the Magistrate’s Court. Marton, last day on which he was entitled to do so.
On the provisional count on the night of the election, Mr. Stuart was credited with a majority of 114 over Mr. Hogan, who sat in the last Parliament as an Independent. Upon the absentee and other votes being included in the official count, Mr. Stuart’s majority was reduced to 15. Mr Hogan then secured a magisterial recount, and as a result Mr. Stuart’s majority was reduced by two.
