FAREWELL TEA

TO MRS. A. C. CAMERON. A very pleasant function was held yesterday at the Y.M.C.A. rooms, Church Street, when members of the Ladies’ Auxiliary met to bid farewell to their president, Mrs A. C. Cameron, who is leaving shortly to reside in Christchurch.

After a pleasant chat and afternoon tea had been dispensed. Mrs Phvsick (vice-president) in a neat speech asked Mrs Cameron to accept a small token of esteem from the members of the Auxiliary. In handing her a beautiful handbag she wished her and family . every happiness and prosperity in their new home. » Mrs Kerr, also a vice-president and the oldest member of the Auxiliaij, then presented Mrs Cameron with a bouquet of autumn-tinted flowers. After the singing of “For She’s a Jolly Good Fellow ’ ’ Mrs Cameron thanked the members for their lovely gift. She said she diu not need that to remind her of her happy days among the Y.M.C.A. workers. She was fully repaid by the influence the Y.M.C.A. had on her two young sons, and asked members to give the same loyal support to her successor. She also gave her old slogan, “If every individual member did her little bit in however small a way the work of the institution would always prosper. ” Mrs Kilgour, hon. secretary, apologised for the absence of Mesdames Welch (vice-president), C. Williams (treasurer) and the general secretary (Mr Bate), all of whom were unavoidably absent from Masterton that day.
