There AA T as a large attendance of directors and members at a social gathering held on Wednesday evening Wairarapa Caledonian Society Avell Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Maeomish. Mr. Maeomish avlio, in his capacity of secretary, has done valuable Avorlc in the interests of the society for the past four years, leaves to-flSy on transfer to Dunedin. Reference was made by several speakers to the splendid work performed by Mr. Maeomish and to the very efficient manner in Avliieh he had carried out the duties of seepstary. On behalf of the directors, MT." H. McKenzie Douglas presented Mr. Maeomish Avith a Avallet suitably engraved and Mrs. Maeomish Avith a handsome cake stand. Much appreciated selections on the bagpipes Avere played by Mr. Jameson, of Nelson, Avhile Mr. D. Bothwell gave several exhibition dances. Supper Avas prox-id-ed and the gathering xx'as a most successful and happy one. The president, Mr. I. Cameron, avlio presided, Avislied Mr. Maeomish the best of luck, health and prosperity in his neAv sphere.
