M. CAMPBELL’S PLANS
THINKS SMITH WILL SUCCEED.

Sir Malcolm Campbell is considering a return to the United .States within a month for another whirl along the sands of Daytona Beach, Florida, in the famous Bluebird machine. His American manager, “Bill” Strum, said on Tuesday: “Campbell is thoroughly convinced that Smith, the Australian driver, will break his speed record. As a result he has gone ahead pretty definitely with plans to bring his machine back here for a record attempt in February at Daytona Beach.”
OTHER ACTIVITIES. ON LAND AND WATER. (Received Thursday. 9.15 a.m.) LONDON, Wednesday. In the event of “Wizard” Smith breaking the speed record Sir M. Campbell will take the “Bluebird” to Daytona in February and attempt to establish new figures. The “Bluebird” is fitted with a new radiator and it is believed is now capable of 270 miles an hour.
Kaye Don’s “Silver Bullet,” in which he made an unsuccessful attempt in 1930, is being altered with the view to challenge the land record and after this is completed efforts will be made with Lord Wakefield’s new speed boat “Miss England II.”
