WOOL MARKET

NAPIER SALE OPENS INDICATIONS OF IMPROVEMENT. NAPIEE, This Day. Keen competition, Avith strict limits, was evidenced by the clamour on buyers benches at the opening of the second Napier wool sale this morning. From the outset it was apparent that prices were showing a firming tone compared with the December Napier sale and, at the morning tea adjournment, with two catalogues disposed of, it was estimated that vaules showed a rise of a half-penny all round on December rates at Napier and were slightly firmer than those at Wellington. There were 24,3*ales offered and a fair proportion of” the fresh wool of the two catalogues was passed. A feature of the sale was keen Continental competition on piece wool which was better than medium priced fierce wool on the day’s notations.
