“SKIPPY.”

Described as one of the woild s greatest pictures, the long-awaited “Skippy” will open at the Regent Theatre to-morrow for three days, with matinees each' day at 2.15 pan. In a review of “Skippy,” the “New York Herald-Tribune ’’ said: —‘ ‘An ~ entirely delightful screen comedy, even if you are not exactly mad about children. Unashamedly sentimental, brightly amusing, and genuinely heart-wanning, t Skippy ’ is decidedly a motion picture to be cherished. It- is so fondly and knowingly produced that you always believe, as Avell as . delight, in its heroes. ‘Skippy’ gives evidence of being a modern ‘Tom Sawyer,’ if not ‘Huckleberry 'Finn.’ It is one of the most human of motion pictures.” The five-year-old brother of Jackie Coogan makes his debut in “Skippy,” which is Paramount’s talking version of the Percy Crosby cartoon feature. His youthful vim was frequently demonstrated during the recording of one of the scenes in the picture whose title part is portrayed by Jackie Cooper. Playing Hooky, Skippy’s rival, young Coogan has to carry on a conversation about his dog while pulling slivers from a piano box vdiicli had been, converted into a boys’ club house. As the cameia ground away, Robert selected a laige sliver and pulled at it. The sliver proved its tenacity and refused to yield. Robert yanked harder. The roots of the sliver held firm. With a mighty tug, Robert put his heart into his assignment, and the entire side of the box fell his way. Property men were called into service to replace the damage and the scene was retaken, this time with smaller slivers, furnishing amusement for Robert.
